The American Friends of the Hebrew University have elected Samuel Rothberg of Peoria, Illinois, chairman of their board of directors, it was announced here today. Mr. Rothberg succeeds Ralph Wechsler of Essex Falls, New Jersey.
Long active in Jewish affairs, Mr. Rothberg is national campaign chairman of the Israel Bond Organization and president of the Israel Investors’ Corporation. He has been closely associated with the Hebrew University for some years. He is a member of the board of governors of the university and formerly served as national vice-president of the American Friends. He is a Founder of the New Campus of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and one of the chief donors of the Eliezer Kaplan School of Economics and Social Sciences at the university. The main lecture hall in that building bears his name.
