Dr. Harold M.W. Sargent, world-famed conductor, announced today he has accepted an invitation to conduct the Palestine Symphony Orchestra in a series of coronation concerts in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv and Haifa. He will leave for the Holy Land on May 6.
In a statement to the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, Dr. Sargent, who is music director of Dunelm and conductor-in-chief of the Royal Choral Society, declared: “I am very happy to be going to work with this orchestra, which has already made itself famous.”
Because of the anticipated sell-outs and demands for repeat performances, Dr. Sargent expects to remain in Palestine until May 20.
