Government officials yesterday voiced skepticism at reports from 100,000 armed Bedouins were ready to cross the Jordan to join the Palestine Arabs in their fight against Jews and Britain.

They expressed doubt that there were that many armed Bedouins in the Transjordan, or that they were eager to come to Palestine to push the war.

The Government has ordered several hundred mules from Cyprus for use in the mountain fighting against Arab rebels.

High authoritative quarters declared that the report in Dear Hayom outlining four peace proposals reputedly being considered in Government circles, was without foundation. The report said temporary stoppage of Jewish immigration and an “autonomous legislature” were among the proposals being considered.
