A scroll describing Bar Kochba’s rebellion against the Romans 1,800 years ago and written in a Hebrew-Assyrian script has been discovered in a portion of the Judean desert now under Jordan rule by a Dominican archaeological expedition, it was reported here today.

The scroll, in the Aramaic language, is entitled the “Testament of the Tribes.” This testament was until now known only from its Greek translations.
