To make room for exiled German-Jewish professors, the British Friends of the Hebrew University will launch a campaign next Spring for increasing the capacity of the Jerusalem university’s faculty, it was announced late last night by Sir Philip Hartog, president, at a meeting of the Friends.
Redcliffe Salamon and Professor Gibb of the University’s School of Oriental Studies lauded the University’s contributions to conciliation between Arab and Jew.
Prof. Norman Bentwich, former attorney general of Palestine, paid tribute to Dr. Judah L. Magnes, president of the University as “the master builder of the University which symbolizes our Renaissance.”
