Senate Confirms Rountree As Asst. Secretary of State for Near East

The Senate today confirmed by voice vote and without discussion the nomination of William M. Rountree to be Assistant Secretary of State for the Near East. He will succeed George V. Allen in a switch of diplomatic assignments. Mr. Allen’s appointment to be Ambassador to Greece was also confirmed by the Senate.
