State Senator Lazarus Joseph pleaded last night over the NBCWJZ network for the maintenance and the support of American Hebrew schools, Talmud Torahs and Yeshivas.
William Weiss, president of the Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America, called upon the congregations throughout the country “to mobilize these spiritual forces during the coming Holy Days, so that they will continue to function throughout the year. I call on the Jews of America to gather around their ancient fortress, the ‘Torah,’ with renewed vigor and fidelity.”
Dr. Joseph H. Lookstein, associate rabbi of Congregation Kehilath Jeshurun and a member of the faculty of Yeshiva College, discussed “Communal Repentance.”
