A special session of the Thuringian Diet was called for October 17 on a motion of the Social Democrats, for the purpose of discussing the matter of Herr Loeb, formerly president of the Thuringian State Bank, who was dismissed from his post by the government, under pressure of the anti-Semitic parties.

The dismissal of Loeb was made, in spite of the fact that a committee appointed to investigate the affairs of the State Bank, found Loeb’s administration above reproach.

When the session of the Diet opened and the Minister of Finance, Dr. von Kluechtzner, endeavored to explain the attitude of the Thuringian Government in the Loeb case, instead of speaking on the subject, he attacked the Social Democratic Party. This led to excitement and the session had to be postponed. It is expected that as soon as the Diet re-convenes a special committee for investigating the entire Loeb case will be appointed.
