The scope of the plan to settle Jews on the land in Soviet Russia has been considerably reduced this year, it was declared here today in circles closely connected with the colonization work.
The original plans were prepared when it was believed that the entire sum of $15,000,000, which is to be raised in the United States by the United Jewish Campaign, would be available for colonization purposes in Russia. According to the new plans only 4,000 families will be settled during this year in Ukrainia. Eighteen hundred families will be settled during the spring, beginning next Monday. Twenty-two hundred families will be settled during the autumn.
