The movement to transform Palestine into the British Empire’s Seventh Dominion, launched recently by Col. Josiah Wedgwood, has had in Palestine a lukewarm reception, to say the least.
The Arab newspapers express unequivocal opposition, claiming that if the plan of the Seventh Dominion League is realized, “the Arabs would be robbed of their country.” This would also mean the Anglicizing of the Palestine population, the Arab papers contend.
The Hebrew press, notably the “Doar Ha’yom,” organ of the Revisionists, under the editorship of Vladimir Jabotinsky, and the “Ha’Aretz,” welcome the plan. However, the “Davar,” Labor organ, is not only lukewarm but expresses apprehension of the difficulties which may arise for the Jewish communities in the Diaspora, if Palestine is declared a Seventh Dominion. It would also spoil the Jewish-Arab relations, the paper states.
