Approximately 75 percent of the Jewish children in the Cleveland public schools attend some Jewish Schools here, according to the 37th annual report of the local Bureau of Jewish Education.
The bureau’s report indicated that the organization serves about 30 communal and congregational schools here, with a total enrollment of 12,518 pupils and about 600 teachers. Of the total, 4,173 pupils are enrolled in weekday schools, 570 in day schools, 866 in communal Hebrew schools, 54 in the Yiddish school, and 2,683 in congregational Hebrew schools, There are 473 children in nursery schools sponsored by synagogues and Jewish schools.
The communal Hebrew High School has an enrollment of 130 pupils; 32 students attend Prozdor, a secondary school conducted by the Institute of Jewish Studies; 34 are in congregational Hebrew high schools; and 28 girls are in a day school at the secondary level.
