Shmuel Izban, a correspondent of the Jewish Morn-Journal, New York Yiddish daily, was deported to the United States today, after ?ing been confined here and in Cyprus for 10 days.
Izban, who arrived on the blockade runner Hatikvah, was sent to Cyprus, al? he revealed he was an American newspaperman. After he was returned to Palestine, he was jailed for three days and refused permission to see his brothers and sis who reside here.
When Izban complained to the British authorities concerning his treatment, ?ting out that he was an American citizen, he was told: “We do not make any dis?ction between Palestine Jews and Jews of other citizenship.”
