Goethe’s “Faust” and Shakespeare’s “King Lear” have been translated into Yiddish by two Soviet Jewish writers.
Ezra Fininberg, who worked on the translation of “Faust” for ten years, is said to have retained Goethe’s style and lyricism faithfully in his rendition.
The Yiddish text of “King Lear” was written by S. Halkin.
