Maj. Gen E.L.M. Burns, chief of the United Nations Truce Supervision Organization in Palestine, arrived here after a short visit to Egypt, where he was informed of the Egyptian decision to break off talks with Israel on pacification of the Gaza strip border. Gen. Burns is now preparing a detailed statement on the current situation for submission to the United Nations Security Council.

The truce chief today visited the Israel Foreign Ministry to discuss the impasse in the talks with Joseph Tekoah, who has headed the Israel team in the current negotiations. At the same time it was disclosed that Prime Minister Moshe Sharett had discussed the same subject with the Ambassadors of both the United States and the United Kingdom.
