The Herzlia Jewish Day School here has been awarded a Shazar Prize for Jewish Education. The citation lauded its achievements as “impressive in all fields of its educational endeavor and especially so in its successful encouragement of identification with the Jewish people and the State of Israel.” Myer Ellis Katz, headmaster of Herzlia School, went to Israel to receive the award on behalf of the school. Second only in size to Johannesburg’s King David Schools, Capo Town’s Herzlia Primary school and Herzlia High School have won praise from visiting Jewish educators for their progressive methods.
