Shimon Peres plans to appear at the North American federation system’s General Assembly in Washington. Replacing Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, the Israeli foreign minister is slated to speak at a Sunday night plenary and may fill in for Sharon at other events as well, according to officials with the United Jewish Communities. Tom Ridge, the U.S. homeland security director, is also slated to address the General Assembly.
