Declaring that the present need for volunteer assistants among the health and welfare agencies of New York City is unprecedented except for the last year of the World War, the Association of Volunteers of the Welfare Council of New York City issues a public call for men and women — particularly women — to serve as volunteers in hospitals, clinics, settlements, thrift shops, relief societies, health education agencies and practically every type of welfare organization in the city.
The statement, signed by Mrs. Sidney C. Borg, vice-president of Association, says frankly that the Association is seeking applications only from those persons who have considerable leisure time and who have no need for or expectation of qualifying for a salaried position. Volunteers are sought only from persons twenty-one years or older, who can contribute regularly at least two days a week.
Volunteers are requested to apply in person or by mail or telephone to the Association of Volunteers of the Welfare Council of New York City at 122 East 22nd Street, Gramercy 5—7000.
