A Jewish former mayor of Hackney was found murdered here last night after his office at the Workmen’s Circle Friendly Society was robbed of eight thousand pounds.
Solomon Lever, 64, general secretary of the Society, who served as Mayor of Hackney in 1951-52, was kidnapped from his home and the key to his office safe stolen by the kidnappers. His body was found two hours later near a forest on the outskirts of London.
