Some 3.5 million gas masks will be delivered shortly to 2500 air raid shelters throughout the country to be used in case of an emergency, army and Interior Ministry officials said at a press conference. Every citizen is now assured of a gas. mask should the need arise. The distribution of the masks is part of intensified emergency preparations on the part of the Civil Defense and the Interior Ministry. Most of the effort is aimed at reaching a high standard of shelters. About 75 percent of the population is assured of a proper shelter in time of war, General Yitzhak Zeid, Civil Defense commander, said.
