Some 70 Jewish leaders wrote to Condoleezza Rice, asking her to press forward with President Bush’s latest Middle East peace initiative. The signatories, who include the rabbinical leaders of the Reform and Conservative movements, past presidents of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations and major philanthropists, want Rice to help ensure fair Palestinian elections on Jan. 9 and encourage Israel’s plan to withdraw from the Gaza Strip.
