The Soviet Government is ready to accept medical and other aid offered by the Histadruth, the Jewish Labor Federation of Palestine, it was learned here today. The offer was made some time ago, and it is understood that the Histadruth has now received a favorable reply from Moscow.
At a session of the Histadruth Council today a declaration was adopted stating that the Jews of the world “will stand together with the Jews of Russia until the day of victory.” The declaration was cabled to Moscow in reply to the appeal issued from there by the Jewish Conference to Fight Fascism held on Sunday.
Praise for the Jewish groups in America who replied to the appeal of the Moscow Jewish Conference is voiced here today in the Davar, official organ of the Histadruth. An editorial in this paper regrets that the Yishuv has no facilities to broadcast its message of encouragement to the Moscow conference, but it assures that “the Jews in Palestine are wholeheartedly with the Jews of Russia.” The article calls for “close cooperation between the Jews of the world and Soviet Jewry.”
The Palestine League for Soviet Russia cabled a message to the Moscow Jewish Conference, sending its greetings to “the brave Red Army, the unknown heroes and the guerrilla fighters.” The message was signed by Dr. Judah L. Magnes, Prof. Martin Buber and others.
The crew of a Soviet military plane which landed today in Palestine en route from the Caucasus to Egypt visited Jewish institutions in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv and was officially welcomed by Mayor Rokeach in the Tel Aviv city hall.
An association of Lithuanian Jews to organize aid for the Jewish population in Nazi-occupied Lithuania was formed here today, sponsored by Consul Volkauskas of Lithuania. The association intends to establish connections with the organizations of Lithuanian Jews in America, South Africa and England.
