The occurrence of an anti-Jewish attack in the town Rudna, region of Smolensk, is now revealed in the Soviet newspapers received here.
The attack occurred in November. A group of Russian peasant workers of the neighborhood, after receiving their pay, arrived in Rudna and instituted a wholesale attack on the Jewish population. They attempted to enlist the members of the police force to participate with them in the anti-Jewish excesses.
Twelve of the participants were arrested and tried. Two of the leaders, Shvatka and Zhuravlev, were sentenced to ten years imprisonment, four got three-year terms and six one-year terms.
