A monument to the memory of the Cossack Hetman, Bogdan Chmielnicki, who was responsible for the massacre of an estimated 300,000 Jews in 1648-49, will be unveiled on May 1 in Lwow, in the Soviet Ukraine, the Soviet Radio reported today. Chmielnicki, who led a war against the Kings of Poland, has now been elevated to the status of a Ukrainian national hero.
