The treason charge by the Soviet government against Jewish dissident Anatoly Sharansky was described here yesterday as “an outrageous abuse of human rights for which the Russians must be made to answer in the court of world opinion.”

The statement was made by Rep. Robert F. Drinan (D. Mass.) at a rally for Soviet Jewry held at the Rose Wharf. “We in the United States must not remain silent as the Soviet Union obliterates the most precious rights of its Jewish citizens,” Drinan said.
