The establishment of a Jacob M. Lowy Square in the Israeli port city of Ashdod was announced at the annual general meeting of the United Israel Appeal of Canada held here. Gordon Brown, UIA president, said the project would serve as a living tribute to Jacob M. Lowy, of Montreal, a founder and past president of the Canadian UIA, in appreciation for his efforts on behalf of Israel.
