A galaxy of stage and screen stars played to a capacity audience last night at the Forty-fourth Street Theatre in a benefit performance for Mme. Bertha Kalich, who was known as one of the finest dramatic actresses on the stage and is now ill and poverty-stricken.
Some of those present paid as high as $100 for boxes.
Among those who appeared in the testimonial were George Jessel, Norma Talmadge, Walter Huston, Jack Pearl, Fannie Brice, Ethel Waters, and Jack Denny and his orchestra.
