A resolution putting the New York State Senate on record as deploring the persecution of the Jews in Germany and requesting President Roosevelt to make representations to the Nazi regime is being held in committee for subsequent action. The resolution was introduced yesterday by Thomas C. Desmond, Republican, of Orange County, and is similar to that introduced in Congress by Representative Hamilton Fish, Jr.
The resolution states in part that “the members of the New York State Senate regret the continued persecution of the Jews in Germany and express sympathy for them in their hour of trial, humiliation and economic discrimination and request the President of the United States to use his good offices and make friendly representations to the German Government in the interest of humanity, justice and world peace, to respect the civic and economic rights of their citizens of Jewish origin, and to put an end to racial and religious persecution.”
