Israeli television was blacked out today by a wild-cat strike of 5000 post office engineers who are demanding a five-day week and higher maximum grading. Radio broadcasts were irregular as a result of the strike and repairs were suspended on broken telephones and telex machines but Israel’s international communications were not affected.

A spokesman for the Postal Ministry said the strikers submitted a list of 54 demands. The workers’ spokesman said they had only 16 demands, the main one being that telephone and post office engineering should be administered as a separate company rather than a department of the communications ministry.
