Anti-Semitic students at the university here went on strike for a day as a protest against the government’s rejection of the “percentage norm” for Jewish students.
As the professors’ council recommended to the government the establishment of such norm, the Semitic students claim to be very much surprised at the government’s flat refusal to concur. The anti-Semites are circulating a petition for signatures which calls upon the government to submit the issue to a referendum.
The Jewish students at the Latvian university it is estimated approximate 15 per cent of the total student body.
