Study of Hebrew will be compulsory in Jewish schools which are being opened all over Poland under the auspices of the Central Jewish Committee, the Polish Press Agency reported today. Instruction in these schools is being given in Yiddish.
The report said that the Polish Government has promised all necessary help for the schools to provide a thorough Jewish education for the children.
The agency also reported that a new Jewish religious congregation, with Rabbi Moses Steinberg as its head, has been organized in Cracow and that the congregation has been given the 13th century synagogue in Kazimierz, a suburb of Cracow, for its services. The synagogue was repaired after being damaged by the Germans.
