Der Stuermer, violent anti-Semitic organ of Julius Streicher, today demanded the death penalty for Jews convicted of “soiling the German race.” In a special edition, the newspaper charged “big scale and systematic” efforts by Jews to soil the race in defiance of the Nuremburg laws.

Das Schwarze Korps, organ of the blackshirted Hitler guards, denounced German industrialists, “continuing to give preference to Jewish representatives abroad.” It said: “it is intolerable that in the fifth year of the Nazi regime, German firms should still think it their duty to confide their interests to Jews.”

Unemployment in Germany jumped 450 percent during December, from 220,000 to 995,000, it was announced here today. A cold wave, accompanied by heavy snow storms, forced a halt to numerous outdoor projects, particularly construction of new buildings, it was explained.
