Sudan agreed “in principle” to allow a U.N. mission to deploy in Darfur. The agreement was reached in a meeting Nov. 16 in Addis Ababa between U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan and representatives of the African Union and U.N. Security Council countries. The Jewish Council for Public Affairs welcomed the development, calling it a “positive step forward.”
