To the Editor, Jewish Daily Bulletin:
May I take this opportunity of whole-heartedly approving the recent series of articles by W. B. Ziff. Certainly these merit the approbation of all forward-looking and serious-thinking Jews.
But why stop with the publication of these articles? Why not continue with something definite, something constructive? Surely, if all past leadership has proven to be of little or no avail, something more factual must be accomplished than heretofore, something more lasting.
Are there no Jewish leaders who will arise to the occasion, to awaken in our American Jewish youth in all walks of life the necessity for a mutually beneficial solidarity? Awaken these Jews from their dormant complacency.
William B. Ziff has sounded a call that is after my own heart. I will await with keen interest further particulars regarding any possible plans that may arise out of the publication of these articles.
Why cannot Alaska be made the center for the migration of Jews from foreign lands? Surely the United States government would not be averse to settling this far off territory at no cost to itself. Alaska is rich in natural resources. Vast areas are habitable all year ’round. I will very much appreciate it if you will see fit to discuss this particular topic in one of your forthcoming issues. Much can be said in favor of this project. The Jews made New York City the business heart of the United States. They might do something with Alaska.
