Suspicions that Iran’s president-elect participated in the takeover of the U.S. embassy in Tehran 25 years ago is fueling support for an Iran sanctions bill. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Fla.), chairwoman of the U.S. House of Representatives’ Middle East subcommittee, said the number of signatories to her Iran Freedom Support Act rose from 250 to 300 since survivors of the hostage crisis said they believed Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was among their captors.
