For the third time in seven months, a swastika, painted in bright red, was found this morning on a sign at the site here where the Jewish community is preparing to build a community center. Mayor Fred Demarest announced that “these destroyers of property, when caught, will be dealt with severely. “

Abe F. Berliner, chairman of the center’s building fund committee, declared he was certain that the repeated painting of the Nazi symbol was the work of cranks, rather than of anti-Semites. A resident of Glen Rock for 16 years, Mr. Berliner asserted he had “never found anti-Semitism” here.
