One of four Palestinians on trial in Stockholm for alleged terrorist activity is a prime suspect in the bombing last December of a Pan American airliner over Lockerbie, Scotland, in which 270 people died.

The prosecution has demanded life sentences for two of the defendants, including Mohammed Abu-Talb, 35, who may have been the man behind the Pan American disaster.

Police investigators from Scotland visited Stockholm last week to obtain further information about his possible role in the affair.

The defendants are also charged with the attempted bombings of a synagogue in Copenhagen in July 1985 and the office of Northwest Airlines, an American carrier.

The local office of the Israeli airline, El Al, was also targeted, but the perpetrator apparently had second thoughts and dumped his bomb in a canal.
