The new Emmanuel Synagogue of this city was opened for the first time Monday night when the congregation met to observe Rosh Hashanah. The formal dedication will take place next month when the school building which adjoins the synagogue will be completed. The auditorium of the new synagogue seats more than 1.000 worshippers. The synagogue services opened with Rabbi Morris Silverman delivering his first sermon in the new edifice.
