Syrian Government Assures Jews on Status

The Syrian Government has intimated to leaders of the Jewish community that “Jews need not fear as long as they are loyal to the present regime,” according to an informed traveler arrived from Syria, quoted by the newspaper Haboker today.

The Government is continuing to maintain Jewish schools, particularly those of the Alliance Israelite, and has renewed contracts of Hebrew teachers from Palestine, it was said.
