Israel has lodged a strong protest with the Israel-Syrian Mixed Armistice Commission over the violation of Israel air space yesterday by Syrian planes. Two Syrian fighter ships flew over Israel territory in northern Galilee yesterday morning and later returned to Syrian territory by the same route.
Eight Israeli sailors rescued by the Lebanese two weeks ago from a sinking vessel were returned safely to Israel yesterday. The sailors were on one of two ships which slipped their moorings near Haifa in a violent windstorm. Their vessel was driven into Lebanese waters before it foundered. The Israel authorities yesterday gave up the hunt for the second missing ship.
