A Syrian delegation, composed of Premier Sadallah El-Gabry and Foreign Minister Jamil Mardem, arrived here today with a project for the establishment of a “greater Syria” which would merge Syria with Palestine, Transjordan and Lebanon. The project will be discussed here with representatives of the governments of Egypt and Saudi-Arabia.

The Syrian plan is expected to meet with opposition not only from the Jews who demand the establishment of Palestine as a Jewish Commonwealth, but also from the Lebanese population. The Lebanese are decidedly hostile to the project, because they are generally suspicious of any plan which may lead to a pan-Arab federation.
