Syria’s nuclear capabilities are a threat to U.S. national security, a senior State Department official said. John Bolten, undersecretary of state for arms control and international security, told the House of Representatives’ International Relations Committee on Tuesday that Syria remains a threat because of moves to seek weapons of mass destruction, and because of the security and protection it offers to terrorist groups.
