An unveiling over the week-end of a memorial tablet at the Cezska Lipa Jewish cemetery — commemorating the death of 17 Jews who perished in a death march in 1945 when concentration camp victims were driven westward by the Nazis as the advancing Soviet armies approached — was attended by representatives of various government bureaus, as well as by leading church and army officials.
Meanwhile, the newly-erected synagogue in Trencin, in Slovakia, was dedicated today with government officials attending the ceremonies. The synagogue contains a special plaque honoring the memory of all Trencin Jews who perished during the war.
