Lillian D. Wald, New York welfare worker and friend of President and Mrs. Roosevelt, was riding in a White House automobile when she saw, Mina C. Wolf, 60, of this city, slip and fall on the sidewalk in front of the Labor Department building.

Miss. Wald ordered the driver to stop, picked up the elderly woman and conveyed here to Emergency Hospital, where an injured wrist was treated.
