Talk-show host Michel Friedman was elected president of the European Jewish Congress. A vice president of the Central Council of Jews in Germany, Friedman is a Frankfurt attorney who also moderates a political talk show on German TV. The EJC represents some 3.5 million Jews in 38 countries. Friedman is an outspoken supporter of Israel and campaigner against xenophobia and anti-Semitism in Germany. His late parents were saved from the Holocaust by Oskar Schindler.
