Not more than 5,000 “non-Aryans” are left in Germany, after taking account of deaths and dispersals, according to a State Department survey of displaced populations in Europe published today.
Some of the “non-Aryans.” says the report, have been kept at work in factories and on fortifications and others are held as forced laborers in work camps for “non-Aryans” only.
The survey reveals that 160,000 Hungarian Jews were reported to be employed as forced labor in German-controlled territory in 1944. Many of them are believed to be in Austria.
