A much cheaper process for desalination of brackish water than any now in existence has been developed by Prof. Abraham Kogan of the aeronautical engineering department of the Haifa Institute of Technology, the Institute reported here.
The process, involving a flash evaporation method, trims costs by eliminating tubes for heat transfer, and also requires much less energy than present techniques. Prof. Kogan has already built a laboratory-scale plant, and a pilot plant is now being built with a contribution from David Rose of New York, a former chairman of the American Technion Society.
