The population of the greater Tel Aviv area faces a bread shortage this week if a threatened strike of bakers goes into effect Thursday.

The workers in three major bread bakeries are preparing to stop work despite the fact that their demands for increased wages and improved working conditions are presently being considered by the government mediation machinery.

Government employed physicians today carried out their 24-hour stoppage in support of their demands for improvement of conditions and wage increases. Textile workers in this area are also growing restive and may strike in the near future.
