Spontaneous, turbulent meetings were held in the principal squares of this all-Jewish city yesterday protesting the establishment of a legislative council for Palestine as announced by the High Commissioner at a conference in Jerusalem with Arab leaders.
Speakers declared that any Jew who accepted nomination to the council would suffer the consequences.
The crowds were dispersed by the police.
