The Tel Aviv University Senate has warned that the university could be forced to close for lack of funds if the government did not increase its contribution. The school’s leaders have asked for meetings with Premier Golda Meir and Yigal Allon, Deputy Premier and Minister of Education and Culture. It was learned that unless funds are increased, the university could face a deficit of IL 35 million ($8.3 million). “In such a state of financial difficulties we hardly see a possibility of continuing the studies,” said Prof. Yuval Ne’eman, university president.
