The tenure of the Chief Rabbinate Council, scheduled to expire on Monday, will be extended by a Government regulation slated for approval at the Cabinet meeting Sunday, Rabbi Jacob M. Toledano, Minister of Religions, said today in the Knesset, Israel’s Parliament.

The period of the extension, during which elections for a new Council will be held, has not yet been decided, Rabbi Toledano said, but it will probably be for six months.
